An addiction often starts as a form of behavior that "works" for a while, providing pleasure or escape from other troubles. Unfortunately, it takes more and more of the substance or behavior to get the desired feeling. Chasing how it used to be leads to life consequences and you discover that stopping or controlling is more than just a matter of willpower.

It may require dealing with an underlying trauma, family issues, outsider feelings, or a lack of purpose in order to achieve a comfortable recovery. We can work through these together.

Addiction is often related to other mental challenges such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. If so, I can help you learn to overcome them at the same time, so they don't interfere with your recovery.

Because addictions often start as coping mechanisms, it is common to be conflicted or ambivalent about quitting even when an addiction causes profound life problems. I can help you build the commitment needed.

I can help you develop tools you can use when temptation strikes. By understanding triggers, cravings, and the physical/mental cycles that precede a relapse you can learn to live your life free from fear of your addiction.

If you need better approaches to dealing with difficult people in your life who make your brain want to run screaming back to your addiction, I can help you develop interpersonal skills to mitigate those conflicts.

Together we can identify the habit changes needed and I can help you extinguish ones you don't want and develop ones you do.

Often when trapped in an addiction, people neglect their physical being which makes it that much harder to break free. As a certified personal trainer and certified nutrition coach, I can help you get your body healthy which has been proven to improve the chances of long-term recovery.

Other life issues can cause people in early recovery to want to retreat to the false safety of their addiction. Maybe you are dealing with broken relationships, a career in shambles, money problems, or legal entanglements. I can help you cope with these as well.
